Pharmacological Mechanism

PPARα agonist → increased hepatic fatty-acid oxidation + lipoprotein-lipase transcription → ~50% TG reduction + modest HDL rise. LDL effect modest. Reduces CV events in hypertriglyceridemic diabetic populations (FIELD, ACCORD-Lipid subgroups).
