Pharmacological Mechanism

NRTI — cytidine analog phosphorylated to FTC-TP, a chain-terminator for HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. Always combined with tenofovir as the dual NRTI backbone of HIV ART. Active against HBV. Excellent tolerability.
