Aliases: Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide

Pharmacological Mechanism

Isolated by Schoenenberger + Monnier (1977) from cerebral blood of rabbits in the 'delta-sleep' state, but never reliably replicated as a single-molecule hypnotic in humans. Proposed mechanism remains obscure — possible somatostatin-receptor activity. Western clinical trials have been mostly negative; Russian / Eastern European use continues.
