Pharmacological Mechanism

Anthracycline antineoplastic — DNA intercalation + topoisomerase II poisoning + iron-mediated ROS generation. Workhorse of breast / lymphoma / sarcoma regimens. Cumulative-dose cardiomyopathy is the dose-limiting toxicity (lifetime ceiling ~450 mg/m²).
