Aliases: N,N-Dimethyltryptamine
Tryptamine 5-HT2A/2C agonist; also sigma-1 and TAAR1 activity. Rapidly metabolised by MAO-A → inactive indole-3-acetic acid (this is why oral requires MAOI potentiation as in ayahuasca). Endogenous production from tryptophan in small amounts has been characterised but in-vivo physiological role is unresolved.
