Pharmacological Mechanism

Decapeptide GnRH receptor antagonist — directly blocks GnRH-R on gonadotropes. Unlike GnRH agonists (leuprolide, triptorelin) it produces no initial LH / testosterone flare; castrate testosterone occurs within 3 days. Drug precipitates at the SC injection site forming a self-depot that dissolves slowly, producing a long apparent terminal t½ (~53 days at 240 mg, shorter at 80 mg).
