Adenosine analog lacking the 3'-hydroxyl — chain-terminator for RNA polymerisation after incorporation. Inhibits mRNA polyadenylation (poly-A-polymerase substrate). Rapidly deaminated by adenosine deaminase unless co-administered with an ADA inhibitor. In Cordyceps extracts, co-occurs with adenosine and other nucleosides.
