Pharmacological Mechanism

Imidazole topical antifungal — fungal CYP51 (lanosterol 14α-demethylase) inhibitor blocking ergosterol synthesis. OTC for tinea + cutaneous candidiasis + vaginal candidiasis. Minimal systemic absorption from topical route.
