Acyclic monoterpene aldehyde (geranial/neral mixture) with a strong lemon aroma; the main constituent of lemongrass, also lemon myrtle, verbena, minor in cannabis. Produces antinociception in rodent orofacial-pain models via TRP channels (TRPV1, TRPM3, TRPM8); antimicrobial in vitro. TRP involvement is mechanistic but no channel affinity constant is reported.
