The green magnesium-porphyrin pigment of plants and algae, richest in chlorella, spirulina and wheatgrass. Poorly absorbed intact and largely converted in the gut to chlorophyllin/pheophytin derivatives; studied as a dietary antioxidant and dietary-carcinogen binder.
