Pharmacological Mechanism
First-generation cephalosporin β-lactam — inhibits transpeptidase (PBPs) blocking peptidoglycan crosslinking in bacterial cell walls. Renally cleared unchanged; no CYP. Common for skin / urinary tract infections; ~10% cross-reactivity in penicillin-allergic patients.
