First-developed ACE inhibitor — short-acting, sulfhydryl-containing. Faster onset than enalapril (active drug, no prodrug) supports use in hypertensive urgency. Sulfhydryl group may contribute to higher rash + dysgeusia (metallic taste) than newer ACEi.
