Inhaled alkyl nitrite ("poppers"); a nitric-oxide donor that relaxes vascular and other smooth muscle, producing a brief head-rush, hypotension, and flushing. Historically used for angina; recreationally for the rush and as a muscle relaxant. Contraindicated with PDE5 inhibitors (severe hypotension) and a methemoglobinemia risk.
