Pharmacological Mechanism

Amoxicillin + the β-lactamase inhibitor clavulanate — extends coverage to β-lactamase-producing H. influenzae, Moraxella, Bacteroides. Higher GI side-effect rate than amoxicillin alone (clavulanate-driven). First-line for animal bite + many sinusitis / otitis media + UTIs.
