Pharmacological Mechanism
Diallyl thiosulfinate formed when fresh garlic is crushed (alliin + alliinase enzymatic conversion). Antimicrobial, modest blood-pressure lowering, weak antiplatelet. Highly unstable — degrades to ajoene + diallyl sulfides during heating + GI transit.
