Pharmacological Mechanism

Synthetic μ-opioid agonist — phenylpiperidine class. ~⅕ fentanyl potency but faster onset (~1 min) and shorter duration. Used for short surgical procedures + rapid analgesia. CYP3A4 substrate (DDI with strong inhibitors).
