Pharmacological Mechanism

CYP17A1 (17α-hydroxylase / C17,20-lyase) inhibitor — blocks androgen biosynthesis in testes, adrenals, and prostate tumor cells. Used with prednisone to mitigate compensatory mineralocorticoid excess from upstream pregnenolone accumulation. Castration-resistant prostate cancer.
