Very fast, very potent tryptamine psychedelic. A serotonergic agonist with affinity rank 5-HT1A >> 5-HT2A (5-HT1A is the primary high-affinity target, ~300-fold over 5-HT2A). O-demethylated by CYP2D6 to bufotenine and an MAO substrate. Found in Bufo alvarius (Sonoran toad) venom. Risks: extreme intensity, transient hypertension, rare serotonin toxicity when MAOI-combined.
