Cells with characteristics of both muscle and epithelial cells, found in various exocrine glands (e.g., mammary glands, salivary glands), responsible for contracting to expel secretions.

• Contracts to expel secretions from glands.
• Surrounds the secretory units (acini) and ducts of exocrine glands.
• Contains actin and myosin filaments.
