Leydig Cell
Endocrine cells located in the interstitial tissue between the seminiferous tubules of the testis, primarily responsible for synthesizing and secreting testosterone and other androgens.
Key Functions:
- Produces and secretes testosterone.
- Essential for male sexual development, secondary sexual characteristics, and spermatogenesis.
- Stimulated by luteinizing hormone (LH) from the anterior pituitary.
