Kulchitsky Cell
Also known as enterochromaffin cells, these enteroendocrine cells are found in the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory system, primarily responsible for synthesizing and secreting serotonin.
Key Functions:
- Produces and secretes serotonin (5-HT).
- Regulates gut motility, secretion, and local blood flow.
- Involved in chemosensation in the gut.
