Tycho Brahe's supernova of 1572 blazed in Cassiopeia, undermining the doctrine that the heavens never change.
Cassiopeia A is the brightest radio source in the sky beyond the Solar System, the remnant of a supernova whose light arrived around 1680.
From most northern mid-latitudes it never sets, wheeling around Polaris so its W shape appears as an M for half the night.
