Sensory Cortices
Regions of the cerebral cortex that receive and process sensory information from various modalities, including touch, vision, hearing, and taste.
Key Functions:
- Process specific sensory modalities (e.g., visual, auditory, somatosensory).
- Encode features of sensory stimuli (e.g., location, intensity, quality).
- Are organized topographically (e.g., retinotopic, tonotopic, somatotopic maps).
