Another term for parietal cells, these glandular cells are located in the gastric glands and are responsible for secreting hydrochloric acid and intrinsic factor.

Key Functions:

  • Secretes hydrochloric acid (HCl), which aids in digestion and kills bacteria.
  • Secretes intrinsic factor, essential for vitamin B12 absorption.
  • Located in the oxyntic glands of the stomach.
