Cells found in fibrocartilage, possessing characteristics of both fibroblasts and chondrocytes, responsible for producing collagen type I and II, and maintaining the fibrocartilaginous matrix.

Key Functions:

  • Synthesizes collagen types I and II.
  • Maintains the extracellular matrix of fibrocartilage.
  • Provides tensile strength and resistance to compression.
