Chromaffin Cell
Neuroendocrine cells found primarily in the adrenal medulla, responsible for synthesizing and secreting catecholamines (epinephrine and norepinephrine).
Key Functions:
- Secretes epinephrine and norepinephrine into the bloodstream in response to stress.
- Mediates the 'fight or flight' response.
- Derived from neural crest cells.
Interacting Systems & Components:
- Adrenal Medulla (located in)
- Epinephrine (secretes)
- Norepinephrine (secretes)
- Endocrine System (component of)
