Adrenocortical Cell
Cells found in the adrenal cortex, responsible for synthesizing and secreting various steroid hormones, including glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids, and adrenal androgens.
Key Functions:
- Produces steroid hormones (e.g., cortisol, aldosterone).
- Regulates metabolism, blood pressure, and stress response.
- Organized into three zones: zona glomerulosa, zona fasciculata, and zona reticularis.
Interacting Systems & Components:
- Adrenal Cortex (component of)
- Adrenal Gland (located in)
- Cortisol (produces)
- Aldosterone (produces)
- Endocrine System (component of)
